According to some believers and media, geomagnetic reversal (interchange of earth’s magnetic poles) will occur in the 2012 time frame. This might occur because of the intense solar activities on the sun weakening the magnetic fields on the earth although there is no proven evidence. However, per NASA, there will be an increase in the solar activities during the era of 2012. Either way, the geomagnetic reversal usually happens over a period of time rather on a particular date. Nevertheless, according to some scientists, geomagnetic reversal is long overdue as this was happened some few hundred thousand years ago before.
