Some people believe a major natural disaster will wipe out big part of the world in 2012. One common theory is that there will be a volcano eruption or an earthquake that destroy the earth surface and reset our earth’s map. In case of an earthquake, there can be a huge tsunami that might flood all the countries. In fact, we have already seen a devastating tsunami that took close to million lives in the recent years in the Indian Ocean – The magnitude of the earthquake as such that it was originated in Indonesia and reached even to African continent shores. Add to this point, this is not the first time we have heard tsunamis on the earth. Dated back to Middle Ages, some scholars say the disappearance of the Atlantis can be caused by a natural disaster like tsunami. Atlantis was the famous mythical island with a rich social culture that said to be existed in the Atlantic Ocean in the Middle Ages introduced by the known Greek philosopher, Plato. Another theory of 2012 involves “Ice Age”. Ice Age is the era known to us when most of the earth surface fully covered with glaciers and ice sheets which believe to be existed 20,000 years ago. Looking at the climate changes, earth possible movements in the solar system and Sun’s heat variances, some believe Ice Age is possible in few years from the present day. Contrast to this idea is the global warming. The term global warming refers to the rise of the average temperature in the global atmosphere. The main reason behind this is the increase of Greenhouse gases (i.e. Carbon Dioxide) in the earth’s surrounding air. In the recent years, the temperature is on the rise due to various human activities according to various researched analysis and statistics. In fact, many countries in the world have signed some sort of treaties to suppress global warming. Therefore, this has become more of a fact than a theory. Some people believe consequences of global warming may appear sooner than we think and we may well be short of time. Melting of glaciers in Northern and Sothern hemisphere, increase in the sea water levels, short of breathing air and many more can be the immediate effects of global warming.
Natural disaster can be one of the closest theories that can be converted to facts when it comes to 2012. It might not be in 2012, but it definitely a possible scenario that can dent earth in a major fashion in the recent years to come. World War 3 or epidemics are some of the related scenarios that are closely go hand-in-hand with natural disasters.
