An object or a person traveling from one place to another with a great amount of speed – most preferably with a speed equals or faster than the speed of light, so the naked eye cannot see the travel. Another explanation would be an object or a person disappears from one place and appears in another practically with no time – “instantaneously”. In these terms, teleportation eliminates or minimizes the known two factors for travel, the time and space.
For example, let us say you saw a beautiful beach in Tahiti on television, and you so want to go there. If teleportation is possible, you can immediately go there right from your home without making travel plans, taking leave, booking flights and so on – basically ignoring the time and space factors. The life would have been awesome. Unfortunately, as of today, this type of teleportation which you may have familiarized from movies and TV series remains a fiction. However, do not give up the hopes yet. A means of teleportation method called Quantum Teleportation is well in experimental practice, and it has already been proven teleportation is possible using this method. Although this is different from the teleportation that you may have seen in movies like Star Trek, this is a very positive step towards future computer communication. The Quantum Teleportation will be discussed later, but first let us look at the known theories of teleportation.
Teleportation Theories
1. Regenerate the exact copy of the original object in a defined location instantly. In this case, the original may need to be destroyed. A teleportation machine will need to get ALL the specs of the original object and somehow send that details to the desired destination to re-generate the object. The original might need to be destroyed because of the possible cloning issues unless cloning is one of the intentions.
2. Exiting from one universe to a parallel universe and re-enter to the original universe from a different location. This way no time is spent for traveling on the originating universe.
3. Going through a wormhole or similar path to attain speed of light. Wormhole is an imaginary space model that allows an object to gain speed of light. Time travel theories are also based on this method.
